Book Jawn is a website and podcast about books and the people who love them. We are currently run exclusively by two lady bookworms.
Some of our goals:
1) We love books. Full stop. We each have our own preferences, but we're not here to judge anyone. We like to think critically about what we read. If we don't like something, we'll give reasons why. If you like something we don't ... so what? The world of books and reading is wide and not everyone has the same opinions or experiences. That's one of the coolest parts of forming community and dialog. In other words: we won't yuck your yum. Please don't yuck ours.
2) Most of the books we read are seen through the critical lenses of social justice and feminism. We're cis white feminists who do our best to read books by other women, trans and genderqueer authors, people of color, and people with disabilities. We believe that we live in a rich, diverse world. While the world of books hasn't evolved to reflect that fully, making intentional choices about the books we read and talk about helps. We do our best to read books by women, queer folks, and people of color. We want to talk about it and encourage you to do so as well.
3) We want to hear from you. We promise to be as accessible as possible both on the podcast and social media. Give us your thoughts, your questions, your fanfiction pairings, and your chocolate chip cookie recipies.
And that's it!
